General information

GIA Equation Lighting Design Ltd is an award winning professional lighting design consultancy practice established in 1986. The merger of Equation with GIA Lighting in 2008 enhanced this role and substantially increased our capacity to deliver complex projects.

Our consultancy work is based in UK and abroad and includes a wide range of projects from large scale urban regeneration, bespoke and multiple residential developments, commercial building, retail developments, cultural buildings, hotels and spas, education buildings, museums, galleries and theatres.
We are a strictly fee-based, independent practice and therefore have no commitment, alliance or connection to any manufacturing or supply organisation. Therefore, we provide a fully independent lighting design advice.

GIA Equation staff includes formally trained architects, interior designers, electrical engineers and theatre designers. Many of the designers at GIA Equation had either completed or undertaking the postgraduate degree course in Light and Lighting at the Bartlett School of Architecture or another course of equivalent stature. This mixture of backgrounds provides us with a balanced knowledge base within the practice, allowing us to interact effectively with other design team members. Our understanding of the requirements of other design and construction team members, a key aspect of any design process, is fully embedded in our knowledge.

We are passionate about the lighting and its vast opportunities to be engaged in maximising a visual impact in the built environments and realising a full potential for our clients by adding value to our projects. Our creative process and designs are underpinned by our skills to deliver the projects within its set milestones and positively contribute to both design and construction stages.
