General information

We are a team of experienced lawyers who have all worked for many years in employment litigation.

Our experience has taught us that if the parties can reach an early settlement they will avoid unnecessary costs, stress, time, aggression and a risk to their reputations. We are all committed to resolving disputes before they get to a Tribunal.

With the introduction of fees for tribunal claims, the limitations of legal expenses insurance, the lack of legal aid for employment law advice and high legal fees for private lawyers, we have established YESS to provide affordable advice to employees who want to resolve problems at work without litigating. YESS will give employees affordable, realistic, constructive and high quality legal advice.

WHAT WE DO

We use pragmatic and realistic advice and a fresh approach to enable employees to decide how best to resolve their dispute with their employer rather than escalate it. Because we provide employees with robust and practical advice employers trust us and work collaboratively with us to solve problems.

We will help the employee to reach a settlement that enables them to continue their life and career either in the same job or by drawing a line under a difficult employment situation and moving on with a financial and practical arrangement that suits them.

WE ARE DIFFERENT BECAUSE

We are a charity and therefore have no financial or other motive to escalate disputes or aggressively pursue any outcome other than resolution.

We will never litigate on behalf of our clients. We are therefore in a better position to seek settlement because all parties to the dispute will work with us to try and avoid ending up in court.

In the long term we hope to increase employee retention by helping to resolve disputes before relationships break down, improve relationships between employers and employees and provide model employment resolution practices.

WHAT ELSE WE DO

We are work closely with other NGOs and charities to promote early resolution and explore other methods of avoiding legal disputes. We are currently working with both Working Families and the CAB to establish ways of monitoring the success of our approach both in terms of how many legal claims are avoided or settled using our approach but also in terms of how our clients and their employers feel about the process once we have resolved the problem.

We offer training to employers and other interested organisations on both specific employment related topics and on dispute resolution and how to use it effectively. Contact us if you would like more information on training.

Should we not be able to resolve a dispute then we will refer our clients to trusted, law firms or barristers who will be able to draft and issue proceedings when necessary.
