About The Hackney Pirates
The Hackney Pirates is an innovative educational charity designed to supplement the school system. We work with young people in Hackney to develop their literacy, confidence and perseverance, so that they achieve both in school and in the world beyond. We work exclusively with children who are identified by teachers and social workers as needing extra support because they are falling behind at school, and facing disadvantages in their personal circumstances. We support them with extra reading, writing and project-based learning opportunities.
