Jamie Read CMT MISM is an expert Theatre, Film and Recording voice coach who has worked with Theatre Performers, TV Celebrities and Recording Artists to help them achieve their vocal best. Jamie is a Certified Master Teacher and is currently undertaking Post Graduate research into Vocal Pedagogy.

He is Director of Theatre Faculty at READ College and as a voice teacher he has worked all over the UK including for Voice Workshop UK as a specialist Belt technique teacher, as an Associate Teacher for Charlotte Shorthouse at Urdang, Matthew Reeve at Mountview and for Anne Marie Speed & Associates at the Royal Academy of Musicas well, and in education at The Henley College, TVU Reading College of Arts & Design, and many others.

Jamie has been running his private practice since 2005 and has coached recording artists, principle singers in West End shows, musical theatre and acting students, as well as professional public speakers and voice-over artists. As well as coaching the technique and confidence in singers and speakers alike, Jamie is a highly specialised voice coach working with injured and recovering voices to ensure safe voce use and a healthy recovery.

He trained originally as a Musical Theatre performer at Sylvia Young, then furthered his vocal training under Craig Barbour RSAMD (principal singing teacher at RADA), and trained as a teacher under Matthew Reeve on the Reeve & Möller Certification Pathway. Jamie is currently undertaking research for his PGCert through Cardiff Metropolitan University, in conjunction with Voice Workshop UK.

As a performer, theatre credits include Entertaining Strangers (National Theatre); Marvin’s Room (Hampstead Theatre and West End); Spirit of The Dance (USA and European tours); Hard Times The Musical (Original workshop, Windsor Theatre Royal, and West End); Joseph & The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (UK national tour and West End); The Emperor & The Nightingale (MAC Birmingham); Femme Fatale (Warehouse Theatre Croydon); Salad Days (50th Anniversary UK tour); The Wizard of Oz (Birmingham Rep); The Great West Road (Watermill Theatre, Newbury). Film and TV includes Born and Bred (BBC); D-Day 6-6-44 (BBC/Dangerous Films) plus many commercials and several appearances on children’s TV for both the BBC and ITV. He has co-written two shows for the Edinburgh Festival - The Ballad of Reading Gaol and Miss Sign-On; The Untold Story of a Diva on the Dole, the cast recording of which is available from Dress Circle and also online to download. He also appears on several recordings including Hard Times The Musical; The Ballad of Reading Gaol; and A Tribute to Cameron Mackintosh, and to date has choreographed dozens of shows including 7 seasons at the Warehouse Theatre, Croydon.
