THE STORY SO FAR...

My uncle is a Master Bee-keeper and has been raising Bees for 44 years. He introduced me to the life of Bee-keeping. Being born and raised in an urban London environment, this was something I was never previously exposed too. I told my uncle that Bee-keeping was not practised in London. How wrong I was! My uncle laughed and said I did not know what I was talking about. Me being a know-it-all teenager, I completely rejected this statement and argued I knew London better than him (typical teenager).

A few weeks later my uncle sets up his first London apiary. I was totally amazed that people kept Bees and practised Bee-keeping. To this day I will never forget my first visit to the hives. I was filled with a mixture of excitement and fear the first time I looked into a beehive. There was thousands of Honey Bees crawling over the Honeycomb. I still remember the tremble on my hands when he asked me to put my hand into the bottom of the hive to retrieve some brace honeycomb. The adrenaline rush was simply incredible. From that moment on I was hooked. I have spent many years travelling learning about Honey Bees and I am now the Local Honey Man.
