General information

We are a small business established a few years ago. We offer good quality, freshly prepared, home cooked food in an industry, which is now dominated by those big ‘chain’ offers we won’t mention!

We prepare the majority of our own menu and nothing on the menu is a “boil in the bag” meal. The downside of this is that our wages bill is considerably higher than the average pub chain (I know this because we used to work for one) as we keep a highly talented team of chefs locked away in the kitchen! It also means that things can sometimes take a little longer than we’d like - so sorry ‘bout that.

We do not (unlike a lot of our competitors) have strict brewery
budgets and profit targets that have to be met. If we want to spend a little more on our food or accept a lesser margin we can. If we want to change our menu we can (and often do).

We take pride in our cask ales and keep a good amount of variety on the hand pulls - and we have a few favourites
re-appear on a regular basis.

We do genuinely take pride in all we do, but we are human after all and occasionally you may have reason to complain; all that we ask is if you are not happy at any point during your time with us, then please do tell us straight away while we have the opportunity to put it right. There’s not a lot we can do once you have gone!
