General information

Great British Pork is a campaign run by the National Pig Association to highlight the reasons why British pork stands a cut above pork being produced elsewhere.

Over 90% of pork produced in Britain meets the Red Tractor assurance standards for quality, traceability, welfare and food safety. Buying British means you are buying pork that has been produced responsibly. Buying British pork also helps to ensure British pig farmers can stay in business and keep producing the bacon, ham, sausages, chops and ribs that we love!

The National Pig Association is the representative trade association for British commercial pig producers and is affiliated to the National Farmers Union (NFU).
Community guidelines

All users and members are welcome and encouraged to discuss posts on the Great British Pork Facebook page.

To ensure that the page is a safe and inclusive platform for discussion, comments may be hidden. This is not done to censor your views but to ensure that comments relate to the particular subject being discussed. Moderation will never be used to suppress legitimate, reasoned discussion.

If you want to tell us something away from the public glare of Facebook, drop us a private message. We'll always try to respond as soon as we can.

There are some dos and don’ts, please follow these guidelines for posting a comment on the Great British Pork Facebook page

Do

Be polite – people won’t reply if you’re rude

Be clear and relevant – otherwise nobody will know what you mean

Reply to other comments – and get involved in the discussion

Write in English and proof read your comment – so that everyone can understand

Keep your comments short - nobody likes it when someone hogs the conversation in real life, so why do it on Facebook?

Return to the page to see what other people have to say, plus we post new things all the time

Join in, comment, like and share. We appreciate it when our Facebook fans talk to us and spread the word about British pork.

Don’t

Be offensive – you’ll upset people and we simply won't stand for any abusive behaviour or trolling

Swear – your comments will automatically be hidden

Be racist – we have a zero tolerance policy on racism

Break the law – illegal activity will be reported to the police

Reveal personal information – Be cautious over how much of your information, and other people’s information, you make available to the public on Facebook

Pretend to be someone else

Post spam – we will just delete it

If you don’t stick to the guidelines we may block you or report you to Facebook.
