General information

Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare is devoted to caring for retired racing greyhounds and finding them homes. We are self-funding and rely on the kindness and generosity of our supporters and the general public.

We care for approximately 80 - 100 greyhounds at our kennels in Hersham, with the majority of these gifted onto us by their owners or trainers once their racing days are over. However,when necessary we do step in and help those less fortunate greyhounds who are at risk, as and when we are able. We take in all colours and personalities regardless of their homing chances.

We operate a ‘no destruction’ policy, which means that no greyhound will be put to sleep except on health grounds when there is no other option. For those greyhounds with long term medical or behavioural issues we have The Sanctuary – their home for as long as they need it. We actively promote the fact that greyhounds make wonderful pets and adapt to life after racing very well.
