Activity Descriptions
Kinder Cubs
Age four to six years, this ski progression course aims to give children an easy and fun introduction to moving around on skis; building upon skills and knowledge acquired over a ten week course. They will also develop plough steering skills to control speed and direction whilst on the slope.
Foundation 1 Session
Ages 7 years and over ( 1 x 1 hour). The Foundation 1 session is for those wanting to try skiing or snowboarding for the first time. The session will cover the basics of the sports including moving around on level ground, stepping up and descending the slope in a parallel and snowplough or toe and heel positions, side slipping and learning techniques to control speed and stopping in a snow plough or heel edge. You will have the thrill of learning to slide on our dedicated teaching slopes.
Foundation 2 Course
Ages 7 years and over ( 2 x 2 hours). The Foundation 2 course is aimed at those who have had previous skiing or snowboarding experience or have enjoyed the Foundation 1 session. Skiers will continue to develop speed and control and will learn to snowplough stop and turn. Snowboarders will discover traversing, diagonal side slipping and turning from a basic side slipping movement.
Participants will receive a free 7 day recreational pass on completion of the course if they are of a competent standard.
Beginners 1 and 2 Course
Ages 7 years and over (1x 3hrs). These courses are for those who want a little more than just a taster of snow sports, learning in a more intense course containing Foundation 1 and 2 sessions.
Snow Sports School
Silksworth Sports Complex’s skiing and snowboarding school can provide one to one lessons, courses, group bookings, as well as fun and exciting birthday parties. All of our instructors are fully qualified and very experienced in snow sports.
Recreational Snow Sports and Private Lessons
Recreational skiing and snowboarding is available for skiers who can competently snowplough, stop and turn; and for snowboarders who can competently turn from one edge to the other whilst on the main slope.
Private ski and snowboard lessons are available whether you are a beginner or at an advanced level. Private lessons can be booked for an individual or a group for a maximum of five people (who must be of the same standard).
