General information

Shotton I.T. Resource Centre provides education and training that caters for all ages. The Centre offers a wide range of services to individuals and community groups. Our welcoming environment and friendly staff are ready to give you the support you need. Apart from specialised sessions and children’s sessions all other access to the Centre is on a drop-in basis at a time to suit yourself.

Employability
If you are unemployed our staff will support you in writing/updating your CV, help you with online job applications

For the newly unemployed or making your first claim we can assist you in completing the online application form.

Training
If you are a first timer or want to know more about what the computer can do, we provide Basic I.T. courses including steps on the very basics of switching on, using the mouse and keyboard up to the more complex Level 2 ECDL qualification. We also provide group courses on Adobe Photoshop, Social Media, Web Design and Microsoft Office Publisher.

Kids sessions
There are three youth sessions held each week – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. Kids call in after school either for homework research or to play on the interactive computer games.

Popular demand
Many of the people that use our Centre tell us what they would like to learn and if there is enough interest expressed in a particular area, we will do our best to provide these.
As a result of this we have delivered many courses including Basic Sign Language, Face Painting, Food Hygiene, Health & Safety at Work and Safeguarding.

This is an overview, however we are always open to suggestions.

Welfare Champions
Austerity measures have caused serious hardship throughout the local community, leaving people unsure of what to do and where to go for help. Shotton I.T. Centre has trained Welfare Champions to help you support you through your current problems. If they are unable to answer your queries, they will be able to inform you of the best place to go for the help you need.
