Milbourne Dancing Schools

General information

The Elaine Milbourne Performing Arts School offers a vast range of subjects for the performing arts.
We have a fantastic team of specialist teachers who create an atmosphere where our pupils can develop in a fun and caring environment.

The school was established in 1980 by Elaine Milbourne and is beautifully equipped, having 4 purpose made studios with sprung wooden floors/barres and mirrors we also have a dancewear shop and a Coffee Shop.

We offer classes in;
Ballet, Tap, Theatre Craft, Modern Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Freestyle/Disco (IDTA - International Dance Teachers Association) - As well as Acro, Limber and Musical Theatre (IDTA/LAMDA - London Academy of Music and Dramtic Art)

Throughout the year we enter hundreds of candidates with the I.D.T.A. (International Dance Theatres Association) for exams at all levels and we have an enviable reputation and excellent success rate. Pupils are nominated regularly for the I.D.T.A. Theatre Awards.

Since the schools inception we have always been actively involved in the community appearing at events, fetes and in shows. We participate in our annual Spring Dance festival Dance Competition and have performed in theatres across the area as well as Disneyland Paris and Her Majesty's Theatre London.

Students are given ample opportunities to perform and countless individuals have gone on to represent the school in both Professional and Amatuer productions in the region and further affield - with companies from the Northern Ballet to Newcastle Musical Theatre Company!

What makes the school different is that it offers such a vast range of subjects for students of all abilities and ages, there is something for everyone whether they want to perform or just come along and enjoy a class. Students at EMTDS can train to teaching level and are able to go on to full time performer's college, in 2012 alone 2 of our students recieved DADA's (Dance and Drama Award Full Scholarships) for the English National Ballet School, and Bird College. We have had many students study full time all around the UK & London and students who are currently working professionally all over the world.
