General information

MRT stands for Magnetic Resonance Treatment, and uses the same magnetic resonance technology principles as in MRI machines, but it is used for therapy instead of imaging. It is also known as MBST in Germany, where the main body of research was conducted and where the treatment beds are built.

MRT is effective in reducing pain, increasing mobility and reducing the frequency of pain - and its success rate is approaching 90%. A 10 year study, published in 2013, has given conclusive proof of MRT efficacy.

MRT is is pain free, non invasive, non claustrophobic, and has no unpleasant side-effects.

The treatment requires you to lie on the bed for one hour at each session. We will assist you on and off the bed, and help you into the most comfortable position for you to relax during your hour's treatment; you will then be left quietly to read, listen to music - or you can simply let yourself drift off to sleep.

You can move during treatment, provided you keep the joint(s) being treated within the blue coil. Should you need assistance during treatment, there will be a bell or buzzer next to you to call for attention.

"So what happens after treatment?" I hear you ask! Well, MRT stimulates the growth of the targeted tissues from your very first treatment, and for some patients they will even feel a difference by the end of their course of treatment. The stimulation process continues after the course has finished, with improvements becoming noticeable after appoximately 2-2 ½ months.

Further improvement is usually noticed between 3 and 6 months after treatment. Cell stimulation continues thereafter, but at a reducing rate for up to twelve months after treatment. This is the time to then book in for your 3 booster "top up" sessions, which re-stimulate cell growth to the same rate as during your initial course of treatment.
