General information

The Trust carries out a number of projects to help regenerate the town; one of the main projects we are currently working on is the development of a new community hub in the centre of Gorebridge.

GCDT proposes to develop a flexible, multi-purpose community hub and a cafe serving healthy, locally sourced foods. The new community hub will serve several community groups, offices for private businesses and have a main hall for community and cultural events.
The hub will be located in the centre of Gorebridge on Hunterfield Road, which is the main route through the town. The hub will be the focus of community activity in the area located near to the library, leisure centre, football ground, parish church and care home. When completed, this section of Hunterfield Road will be seen as the social and commercial focus of the village, substantially contributing to strong, cohesive community building. It will act as a major catalyst for the regeneration of Gorebridge and is a key part of the Gorebridge Locality Plan of April 2010.
The hub will accommodate:

Several charities/community groups with offices
Private business/social enterprise offices
Youth facility providing much needed space for young people
Show space for artistic/cultural events in Gorebridge
Borthwick Pipe Band
Heritage centre for the local history society to house it's growing archive
Business centre providing office space for small businesses
Conference facility attracting business and community users to Gorebridge
Venue for social events, such as weddings
Cafe serving fresh food
Soft play area
