The ARC at the Abbey Street Recording Studio

General information

We are the Abbey Recording Company Limited and we operate out of the Abbey Street Recording Studio in Eynsham, a village just outside of Oxford, England. The Studio is currently in the stages of being built – the canvas is an old barn some 200 years old which has been used as a joinery woodworking shop, it is has been stripped back and we are now building a high spec recording studio designed by Mark Tucker www.themarktucker.co.uk/

The studio will be able to cater for all musical needs using fully analogue, fully digital or hybrid systems. There is an emphasis on high end vintage analogue equipment, this, we believe, gives the music that comes out the studio the best possible sound that you simply can’t get from purely digital production – we do of course have contemporary equipment as well. The beating heart of the studio is an 32 channel SSL mixing desk which is made up of 16 G + Series channels including the centre console and the other 16 channels are E Series. The desk has been completely rebuilt and has great pedigree having been made from the desks of Sir George Martin and with parts coming from Peter Gabriel’s old desk, all works were carried out by Keith Skerrett of Oxford Recycled Audio www.recycledaudio.co.uk/ .

The Studio has a collection of tape machines including an Otari 24 track 2”reel to reel, Tascam 24 Track 1”, Revox B77 4 Track ¼ “, a large selection of microphones including a pair of Neumann U47s, a Neumann U67, AKG D12, 24, 19, 414, matched pair vintage Calrec’s, Pelus P28, pair Pelus CEM6,various ribbon Microphones and many more, a Hammond C3 Organ with 145 & 760 Leslie Cabinets, guitars such as a Duesenberg Starplayer TV, Fender Telecaster Hot Rod 52, Stratocaster with N3 pickups, Gibson Les Paul with coil taps, Taylor Acoustic. We have all the equipment to cater for any project, a complete list will be available upon completion of the studio. The Studio has a resident producer/engineer, David Neutel and another resident producer in the form of Mark Tucker, both have a wealth of experience.
