General information
Oxford Lieder exists to promote and celebrate song. Each October it puts on The Oxford Lieder Festival, an extravaganza of classical song. In 2014, 'The Schubert Project' won the prestigious Royal Philharmonic Society Music Award in the category of Chamber Music & Song.
The 2017 festival - The Last of the Romantics: Mahler and fin-de-siècle Vienna - taking place between 13-28th October presents Mahler's complete songs with piano. Mahler's Vienna is also placed in a wider context, through the songs of Schubert, Beethoven, Brahms, Wolf, Zemlinsky, Korngold, Joseph Marx and Richard Strauss, while a late-night salon looks ahead to the Second Viennese School.
