Monty Halls Great Escapes

General information

Monty Halls is a broadcaster, speaker, naturalist, former Royal Marine, marine biologist, travel writer and leadership specialist.

He is best known for his three BBC2 series ‘Great Escapes’, where he lived on the west coast of Scotland and Ireland with his dog Reuben. He also presented the multi-award winning series ‘Great Barrier Reef’. In 2014 he has completed filming on the ground-breaking expedition series ‘Lost Worlds’ for the Discovery Channel.

In 2015 Monty founded Seadog TV and Film Productions, creating factual content for broadcast and brands. Their first broadcast commission was the hugely successful WWII's Great Escapes, which aired in September 2017 on Channel 4. In 2016 Monty launched his new education initiative, Leaderbox, a unique leadership and team building tool that makes such training available to all young people.

The Halls Family consists of Monty, Tam, Isla and Molly. Monty likes to think he’s in charge, but in reality it’s Tam, with Isla and Molly acting as henchmen / enforcers.

As parents, Monty and Tam believe that the outdoors is where little ones do so much of their learning, and also believe that in Britain we have some of the most beautiful scenery, wildlife, and adventure opportunities anywhere on earth.

Monty has written several books, and is a regular contributor to magazines and newspapers, many of them communicating his enthusiasm for the natural world.
