General information

Kents oak is a unique home based on its size of 13 beds and location, which is situated in Awbridge, near the village and 2 miles from the centre of Romsey,a market town in Hampshire in Southern England.

Kents Oak is set in secluded attractive grounds overlooking the local school which provides some activity during the day, but peaceful and quiet at other times.

The Home consists of 13 beds, a dining room and conservatory which is also a quiet room for those that wish to take advantage of the library or who want a tranquil area to sit with friends and family.

Residents can enjoy delicious home cooked meals with a glass of wine (if they wish) in this quiet and comfortable setting. The menu is varied with locally sourced fresh vegetables and supplies. Homemade biscuits and cakes are the order of the day and residents are free to have a choice of meals and snacks when they wish. A full cooked breakfast is always available every day up until 10am for those that would like it. All special diets can be catered for.

Bedrooms are generally large, well appointed and most have an en suite. Most of the rooms have good views over the attractive garden which is large and well secured and allows the freedom of residents to wander and soak up the atmosphere.

Our activities programme ensures there is a comprehensive choice of fulfilling activities for our residents and any requests are favourably received.

Your opinion is important to us. Our residents hold a meeting every month where opinions are sorted and decisions are made by those attending. Relatives meetings are held + we have regular social events to which relatives are invited and give us and you a chance to meet and communicate in a social setting.

You will be supported by friendly, experienced and professional staff that are highly trained in all aspects of care. Our recruitment process is rigorous and we are careful to ensure only the very best staff are selected. Staff with a firm commitment to exceptional care and who believe wholeheartedly in the individuality of each resident and promote their freedom of choice. The majority of our staff are trained to at least level 3 NVQ/QCF in care but we also have staff trained to level 4 and 5. Training of staff is a priority for us and many additional courses are undertaken above expected mandatory training.

The manager is experienced in all aspects of care and has skills and has qualifications to support the necessary job role. She has worked for many years in the care environment and applies all her commitment and care to the residents and staff under her leadership.

She operates an encouraging and supportive system in an open and honest manner and welcomes all suggestions and ideas with enthusiasm.

Visiting and family contact is encouraged and there are no restrictions. New prospective clients are welcome to visit the home for viewing or to have a trial stay. All prospective residents have a full assessment of their support needs prior to coming to Kents Oak to ensure we can meet their care needs and expectations.

We have an excellent working relationship with the regulatory bodies to ensure we are compliant in all areas of care. We welcome discussion, take complaints seriously and act promptly to any issues raised. This with our open door policy allows for transparency in the service we provide.
