Alfresco Childcare and Forest Preschool

General information

Located in one of Wiltshire's most beautiful corners on the border with Oxfordshire, Alfresco Childcare offers nursery care for children from six weeks old, leading onto pre-school and then to before and after-school care. The nursery is situated in a scenic three acre plot which includes a large roaming garden and a forested area. The children here follow the early years curriculum (EYFS). Alfresco provides exciting childcare experiences, encouraging empathy with and respect for the natural world of animals, plants and bugs as well as other children, teachers and the wider world. We are often visited by pheasants and partridge, followed by their young, and one particular little Robin who follows the children to the table at meal times.

Increasingly, research into Forest schooling and nature-based child led learning shows what we have known all along - that being in touch with nature, allowing play-based learning and enabling self-direction gives children the best opportunity to become confident, healthy and able to thrive at school, in education and throughout life!
