Ashdown House is a 17th century hunting lodge built for the chivalrous and eccentric cavalier William, First Earl of Craven and housing a magnificent portrait collection originall belonging to Elizabeth of Bohemia, the Winter Queen. Visitors are taken on a guided tour of the hall, staircase and roof top cupola with stunning views across the deer park, woodland and surrounding area. There is a visitor centre with exhibitions and a small shop, wonderful walking on the Ridgeway nearby, ley lines, and Bronze Age, Roman and Iron Age monuments. Visit this hidden gem - a place steeped in history!
