Amber Valley is located in the heart of Derbyshire, made up of a mixture of urban and rural communities, mainly around the four market towns of Alfreton, Belper, Heanor and Ripley.
Our borough has a tourist base providing a visitor economy worth around £100 million each year, supporting 3,000 local jobs. Denby Pottery factory shop, Crich Tramway Village and Kedleston Hall are amongst the most popular visitor attractions in Amber Valley. Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site puts parts of our Borough amongst the most historically important places in the UK.
With excellent transport links to other parts of the country, including mainline rail links to Derby, Sheffield, Manchester and Nottingham and road links to the M1 and A38, Amber Valley is a popular place to live and work. The Council's ambition is to make everywhere in Amber Valley a great place to live.
