The company was launched in 1989 by Peter and Marie Rathbone, both keen birdwatchers and travel enthusiasts. After Peter and Marie retired Subbuteo Natural History Books became a division of CJ WildBird Foods Ltd in January 2000.
Today, Subbuteo Natural History Books is based in rural Shropshire along with its parent company CJ Wildbird Foods Ltd who supply a wide range of high quality food and products for wild birds and a broad selection of garden wildlife (www.birdfood.co.uk)
