Jailhouse Tours is the brain child of Joel Campbell, conceived through an unsuccessful bid to purchase Shepton Mallet Prison (Cornhill) in Somerset in 2014.
As part of the bid a website was setup detailing the plans for the prison site should the bid be successful. The website was exceptionally well received by the town and residents from further afield. Within 2 days of launching the site it had gained 8,000 views and the team were inundated with emails and requests to book tours, experiences, training days, events and even weddings.
In late 2014 we were informed that the bid had been unsuccessful, but from this grew a new idea, Jailhouse Tours.
The plan for Jailhouse Tours was simple, access historic sites that are due to be developed and operate tours, events, experiences and educational days from these locations.
