Funded and Chaired by Peterborough United Chairman Darragh MacAnthony, The Helping Hands Group was founded on the back of 23 years experience in this field.
Group Director Suzanne Gilby has spent the last 11 years managing the largest deafblind Education Centre in the UK, with high standards, qualified tutors and a passion for giving everyone the opportunity to live an improved way of life, the group offer a service that is the first of it's kind in Peterborough.
We offer Further Education along with Day Opportunities for adults with a wide range of disabilities, from Autism to Brain Injury, PMLD to OCD. The service runs 5 days a week, 45 weeks of the year along with occasional evening and weekend workshops. Every aspect has been covered to create the perfect environment for the users of our service including transport to and from our centrally based location.
We aim to tailor make each programme therefore no two programmes will be the same.
The overal aims are:
To promote independence
Develop life skills
Establish positive communication methods
Provide opportunities to make choices
Encourage involvement within the community
Experience a range of enrichment activities
To provide a safe and healthy learning environment
