I am a counsellor in Welwyn Garden City. My clients include both couples and individuals coping with a wide range of difficulties, including relationship problems, depression, anxiety, bereavement, low self-esteem, loss of confidence and the effects of childhood sexual, physical and emotional abuse.I have been counselling for over 18 years and in private practice for the last 10. I have worked in a number of settings including Relate where I trained as a couple counsellor, with a local counselling agency offering long term work and in a G.P practice where I worked in a short term focused method with patients. I now work solely in private practice. My toolbox includes several theoretical models from which to choose the best method to work with individual clients. However, my psychodynamic training mainly guides my thinking this is a way of understanding how patterns from the past influence the present, often unhelpfully! Choosing to have counselling is not an easy step to take and the relationship between client and therapist is of immense importance. I offer an assessment session where we can discuss your issues and I can answer any questions you may have. This is an opportunity to get a feeling for what it would be like to work together. We can think about a focus for your counselling and whether this might be long term, Open-ended or short term work. I aim to provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential environment where clients Can feel comfortable to explore and understand their feelings. My self-contained consulting room is quiet, private and comfortable and looks out over pleasant gardens. Parking is available. As there are steps into the room I cannot, unfortunately, offer wheelchair access.
