Chalkwell Auctions has been established in the Southend area
for almost 25 years and as a result of our re-location in 2010 has grown to be an important saleroom in the South of England.
All our sales are live on-line via www.chalkwellauctions.co.uk with recent catalogues being viewed by an amazing 66,000 people, over 3,500 of whom were only viewing our sale.
We have gained an excellent reputation for the quality of our service both from sellers and buyers.
A major part of our work is dealing with deceased estates.
This involves giving accurate advice on both the Probate and Selling aspects of the contents of properties at a sensitive time. From small flats to large houses with contents comprising antiques, jewellery, fine art and the inevitable leftovers which need to be disposed of, we can help .
We offer a full service in this respect and do not just cherry pick the best items and leave families to deal with the rest. Often there are items among the contents of a property which can be grouped together to form suitable lots for sale instead of being discarded and in some cases this can make a significant difference to the value of the contents. The end result of this is that the bulk of our work comes from recommendation from satisfied individuals and solicitors.

Auctioneer TREVOR CORNFORTH has been in the business for almost 50 years, having begun dealing at the age of 8, and has been an auctioneer since the age of 18 taking his first sales in York and the surrounding area.
Trevor has appeared on numerous TV programmes and Chalkwell
Auctions recently featured on Celebrity Antiques Road Trip.
He is also well known as a guide on Antiques Trails in various parts of the world but particularly China and Tibet as well as the markets and cities of Europe.
He is also known for his witty and topical “Tittle Tattle and Tantrums” column in the Antiques Trader newspaper. To top it off he has also had a couple of books on Chinese Snuff Bottles published by American specialist publishers Schiffers which have even been quoted by London salerooms in their catalogues. Trevor’s extensive knowledge of oriental antiques is proving very important in the current market.
