General information
Thornbridge Outdoors is run by a dedicated team of staff with many years experience and great enthusiasm for the benefits and wonders of the outdoors! Located within 30 acres of grounds, in the idyllic setting of the Peak District National Park, all types of outdoor activities are accessible by foot, bike or car from our doorstep.
We accept bookings from school and youth groups, families, groups of friends, clubs, church groups, workmates, and formal or informal groups. Our approach is to find out what you need, understand your objectives and then apply our knowledge and experience to meet your expectations.
Accommodation and Facilities
Our two self-contained accommodation buildings, the Lodge (sleeps up to 38) and the Farm House (sleeps up to 34), along with the Base Camp building, camping field and Teepees, provide flexible group accommodation for small or large groups. Both accommodation buildings and the Base Camp have their own fully equipped kitchen and dining areas, enabling groups to self cater, take advantage of pre-prepared meals or a have a fully catered service.
Events and Celebrations
In addition to our accommodation, we also have a variety of meeting rooms; including a Yurt and a Marquee, enabling us to host a wide range of events in our extensive grounds. Examples of which include birthday parties and gatherings, hen and stag dos, whole site festivals, team building days, wedding receptions and conferences.
Outdoor and Environmental Activities
Our outdoor and environmental activities can be tailored to your needs. You might want to abseil, learn to ride a bike, seek a quiet walk in a beautiful environment or enjoy gathering round a campfire. We will ask you what you want from your residential or day visit, and then use our knowledge of activities and the area to ensure you get the outcomes and enjoyment you are seeking either here on your visit, or even at a venue of your choice.
On site activities include:
• Zip wire, high ropes and low ropes challenges
• Climbing wall and bouldering rock
• Trikes, bikes and an 850m trail with small pump track
• Problem solving tasks
• Orienteering
• Environmental activities from den building to the nature trail
Groups that choose to venture off site can:
• Explore some of the most scenic walking in the Peak District – direct from our doorstep
• Walk or ride along the car-free Monsal Trail which runs adjacent to our site
• Enjoy mountain biking
• Go rock climbing on local crags
• Abseil from a 75ft high viaduct
• Try caving
• Visit local tourist attractions, such as Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall and the caves in Castleton
• Tour local villages and towns, such as Bakewell, Castleton and Buxton
Courses and training
We offer a variety of training opportunities here or at a venue of your choice. These include:
• Mountain Training climbing and walking courses
• First Aid
• Climbing, cycling and caving skills courses
• Duke of Edinburgh training
• CPD
• Visit leader training
• Management and corporate training
