Assessment and Diagnosis

Whether you are suffering with long term back pain, an acute sports injury, arthritis, joint pain, muscle pain or any other musculoskeletal condition, we have extensively trained specialist therapists who can help. We will listen to you describe your symptoms, understand and assess the source of the problem and then provide you with a quick diagnosis.

The cause of your condition, treatment and prognosis will be explained to you in plain English so you can understand exactly what is happening.

Rehabilitation

Once the source of your symptoms has been diagnosed your therapist will provide you with a customised treatment plan. You will receive hands on skilled therapy to manage your symptoms and start you on the road to recovery which will be supplemented with a home exercise program. Once your symptoms have resolved you will be rehabilitated to your previous level of function, whether that is day to day activities or international sport.

Spinal Manipulation

Commonly used as a treatment for simple back and neck pain, spinal manipulation is a very skilled technique and requires an experienced physio. Specific pressure must be applied to the spine in a particular way, in order to help loosen stiff joints which can be a source of pain.

Used in conjunction with education and home exercises it can be a very quick and comfortable way to resolve certain types of back pain.

Acupunture

This technique has been used for over 2,000 years in traditional Chinese medicine. More recently western medicine has developed its own method of acupuncture, based on the traditional Chinese methods but with a slightly more scientific basis.

Research has begun into the exact physiological mechanisms by which acupuncture works and although there is much research still to be done, we already know that acupuncture can help with pain relief, muscle spasm and back or joint pain.

Sports Massage

Here at PhysioDirect we have a number of sports therapists who practice sport massage. This can be of benefit whether you have a specific sports injury or you've just been training very hard and are suffering the after-affects and sore muscles.

If you're not sure if this is the correct treatment for you then we can always arrange for an assessment by a physiotherapist who can then refer you on to a sports therapist if it is appropriate.

Home visits

Are you too unwell or not mobile enough to travel to your local clinic? If you would like we can arrange for one of our therapists to visit you at home. Most of the treatment we can administer at our clinic can also be administered at home in your own environment with one of our friendly physiotherapists.

Once your treatment is underway you may find that you feel well enough to visit your local clinic, and this transfer can easily be arranged.
