At Manchester Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), it is our vision to preserve, teach and evolve the wisdoms and practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

Our Principal, Mei Xing, has founded the Academy using her 30 years of clinical experience and 15 years of TCM teaching in UK universities. Mei has a mission to share the highest standards of teaching and clinical practice available in the UK and because of this, has chosen only lecturers who are masters of TCM; they too have years of clinical experience to share from working in hospitals and universities in both China and the UK.

MATCM courses will provide Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to postgraduates in acupuncture and, from September 2016, we are offering a Diploma in Herbal medicine, for which we expect to receive full accreditation through the ATCM. In September 2016, we will also begin Diplomas in Tuina and Qigong.

Interest in Traditional Chinese Medicine has been growing in the UK with acupuncture being most popular amongst patients, but also a wide range of healthcare professionals; many of these practitioners go on to become qualified to insert needles and perform acupuncture. Unfortunately, dry needling, trigger point acupuncture and self-needling is being taught at a rapid pace with some of the essential skills and deep knowledge at the root of the techniques being overlooked.

We believe it is imperative to help modern TCM practitioners to develop their skills and understanding, to ensure they grasp the deepest aspects of the knowledge and wisdom behind the medicine. We maintain that practitioners of medical acupuncture should have access to the best teaching and develop their skills alongside Chinese Medical wisdom.

Our medicine is a living tradition and we are here to inspire and grow the skills and expertise for practitioners of TCM to thrive, and so benefit their patients in the 21st century.
