Brighter Beginnings Fallowfield

General information

The first Brighter Beginnings Nursery was established in New Moston in 1991 by Gill Race, who was an outstanding and inspirational head teacher. In 2006, Gill Race became one of the Government’s first National School Leaders helping schools in difficulties.
After more than 20 years as a head teacher she left education to concentrate on our developing partnership with Sure Start, providing high quality care and education for the children of Manchester.
At Brighter Beginnings we have worked hard to bring nurseries to those areas in the city where it was difficult to find good quality provision. Before opening our Sure Start purpose built centres, there was insufficient child care for working parents and not enough places for children entitled to free pre school education through Government funding.
Over the past five years we have developed our training school in partnership with Skills@Oldham, enabling us to train our own staff. Young people come to us for their first apprenticeship and go on through the advanced levels continuously building on their skills and professionalism. In this way we have been able to develop an established team of loyal and dedicated staff with a commitment to, and understanding of, our aims and philosophy.
