MMU Jiu Jitsu

General information

The Jitsu Foundation is the largest single style jiu-jitsu organisation in the UK, teaching Shorinji-kan jiu-jitsu as a complete martial art and practical self defence.

Jiu Jitsu (ju jutsu,ju jitsu,jiujitsu) is a practical self-defence martial art which focuses upon the use of joint locks, throws, strikes and holding techniques to deal with real life situations. Originating from ancient Japanese techniques used by the Samurai when forced to fight enemies without their swords, Jitsu teaches you to overcome stronger, larger, more powerful and even armed opponents.

Come along and experience Jitsu for yourself, get fit and make some friends. Jitsu is suitable for virtually everyone, turn up to any of our sessions in some loose clothing (tracksuit bottoms and an old t-shirt are ideal) and have a go!

We welcome beginners all year round and your first session is free so please come and try it out!

Sensei Harry Bradford instructs at the University of Manchester club, in the conference room at the Armitage Centre, Fallowfield, M14 6HE. Training is on:

*Mondays 8.30-10:30 pm and Wednesdays 7.00 - 8.30 pm*

Sensei Ian de Cordova instructs at the Manchester Metropolitan University club, in Activity room 1 at the Sugden Centre, 114 Grosvenor Street, Manchester, M1 7HL. Training is on:

*Tuesday 8.15-10.15 and Thursday 8.15-10.15*
