General information

The Kindling Trust is a social & environmental change organisation based in Manchester. Our work is largely based around food; incubating and supporting progressive initiatives that are not only helping to transform our city’s food system, but which also demonstrate the potential for a radically different food economy that is equitable and sustainable.

Kindling’s innovative, co-operative enterprise models include FarmStart - an incubator initiative for new organic growers, Manchester Veg People - a co-operative of veg buyers and growers; and Veg Box People – a worker-owned organic box scheme.

Building on these existing projects, we aim to establish a large pioneering farm within fifty miles of Manchester. The farm will practise and research a range of sustainable farming techniques, pioneer new systems for producing and distributing food, support innovative businesses by providing a social enterprise zone and offer a hub for education and activism though a centre for social change.
