The Lodge Recording Studio Company Information
General information
WE LOVE THE CADAC AND YOU WILL TO!
A Vintage CADAC of this era is probably the best recording console ever made. In its day, it was also the most expensive to produce. Now, they rarely come onto the market and are much sought after.
The CADAC in The Lodge was originally commissioned in 1976 and installed at the legendary Battery Studios in North London where it was used to record some of the greatest recordings of the day (The Sex Pistols, The Police, Queen, The Who, Def Leppard and Duran Duran). It was acquired by Robert John Godfrey for The Lodge in 1986 and has remained our most valuable asset.

COOL ANALOGUE HISTORY
The studio was first established in 1979 by Robert John Godfrey and Stephen Stewart. Situated in a large farmhouse in the Suffolk countryside, it soon became a favourite with some producers and one of the best known mid priced residential recording studios in the business with such famous artists as Kim Wilde, The Ruts, Katrina and the Waves, New Model Army, Mari Wilson, Marillion and Paradise Lost using it on a regular basis until 1988 when the owners closed it in order to concentrate on separate musical careers.
WARM DIGITAL FUTURE
In 1992, Robert John Godfrey reopened The Lodge in Northampton where he, together with Max Read, have served the recording needs of the local community ever since offering support and advice for young artists taking their first steps. Whilst The Lodge has kept up to date with all the latest technology and digital recording techniques, the studio has retained the best of the vintage gear, a decision which has turned out to be a good one.
At The Lodge Recording Studio you will find gifted people with experience, skills, creative imagination and brains, plus all the gear you are likely to ever need to get the best possible results recording a demo or full album for release. The Studios give large discounts to unsigned bands, small independent labels and young bands still at school.
We have built our reputation recording bands. It is what we understand and do best. We are constantly improving our facilities.
All in all, The Lodge represents unbeatable value.
Over all the years we have been doing this, we long ago realised that the most important thing, above all else is to provide a completely stress free environment and positive surroundings.
TOTAL RECALL
The Lodge is the only comparable recording studio in the region with Total Recall, a fully automated mix facility.
Total Recall will save you time and money and bring your mixes that nearer to perfection than possible previously. Gone are the days of "Hit 'n Miss" mixes.
We believe this to be absolutely essential and no amount of classy equipment can make up for the lack of the right atmosphere operated by the right people with the right attitude.
When you decide to use The Lodge Recording Studio, it won’t end up costing you an arm and a leg. You will get our undivided attention from the moment you walk in the door until the moment you leave.
You will be working with talented engineers who will be able to understand exactly where you are coming from and will do their very best to give you exactly what you want.
INEXPENSIVE ACCOMMODATION
Whether you are an unsigned band from out of town with a recording project, a producer with a young band who needs a creative space to work in or a signed band needing a serious rehearsal and preproduction facilities, The Lodge can provide extremely cost effective student style accommodation and in house catering for up to ten people.
UNIQUE RECORDING ENVIRONMENT
The main Live Room is geared up for bands. With 20 feet of space above the drum area and a ceramic ceiling the naturally created ambience gives a superbly huge sound.
There are also two quadruple-glazed, nested dead rooms having visual contact with all areas enabling unparalleled separation when recording all-at-once performances.

A WORD FROM THE FOUNDER!!
When I moved The Lodge to Northampton in 1993, I decided that my new location would be largely for the benefit of the local music community. I have kept my word to myself and done just that for the last fifteen years
I am not really a businessman. I am not like Big Bill Davidson who runs the Soundhaus, et al, and I am not motivated by making money for its own sake. I wish I was - I'd be rich by now, but the truth is that I am just not made that way.
Instead, I am like many of you - a musician. And I have spent most of my life on stage or in the recording studio with my band, The Enid. This is how I really make my living.
When I was a young man, I was able to see all the great bands of the past, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, The Who and Hendrix to mention a few.
Before I formed my band, I worked for nearly three years with Pink Floyd producer Norman Smith, and I learned how to record and produce bands at Abbey Road in the late sixties and early seventies.
We are always happy to meet young musicians needing advice and encouragement - our door is always open at The Lodge - feel free to drop in on the off chance or ring to make a time.
All the best
