FFOTRA

FFOTRA is a member led organisation and is recognised as an independent representative ‘Tenants and Residents Association voice’ locally/regionally and nationally, it regularly provides comment to and works with:

•Scottish Government
•Fife Housing Partnership
•Fife Tenant Forum
•Homelessness Group
•Cross Party Working Groups
•Tayforth Regional Forum
•Sheltered Housing Group

It has two clearly identifiable customers its member Tenants and Residents Associations (TRA’s) and funders (Fife Council ).

FFOTRA provides a single point of contact for both member TRA’s and funders - an Umbrella Organisation bringing together tenants views and ensuring these are directed where they can have the most impact on change.

Staffed by a Coordinator, Outreach and Support Worker it remains true to its original key aims and objectives to:

•Promote, support and encourage the development of TRA’s
•Promote the provision and maintenance of decent affordable housing
•Strive for a maximum degree of influence and participation for tenants and their associations in the improvement of their homes
•Bring together TRA’s to pursue common action and goals throughout Fife
•Present and promote the interests of its TRA’s and wider community through Consultation, negotiation and active campaigning.

Service users have a very high regard for the individual high quality of service, often more than would be expected, however, once provided, can be seen as a standard part of service delivery which can put pressure on the organisation and its employees.

From the funders perspective (who are also service users), whilst appreciating the organisations ability to adapt, as funders organisational priorities change (legislative/policies) their requirements of FFOTRA may differ from the majority of current service users expectations/requirements or needs.

Balancing both can be a challenging and rewarding process!
