General information

Palmers can trace its history back to 1837 when Garwood Burton Palmer and his brother opened a small drapery shop in Great Yarmouth marketplace. Over 175 years later, and that small shop is now a full-line department store. With four other branches across East Anglia and a successful online store we're one of the largest independent retail companies in the UK and employ over 400 staff.

Did you know? Palmers have traded through the reign of seven monarchs; worked under seven chairmen; acquired five stores; survived two major fires and bomb damage and consequently our Great Yarmouth store now boasts the title of longest established independent department store in the country!
