Children in Poverty Inverclyde

General information

Children in Poverty Inverclyde was formed in January 2014 to significantly assist in the alleviation of poverty on children in Inverclyde where nearly 1000 children are classified as being in poverty.

We aim to:
1.Tackle Poverty
2. Improve Health
3. Promote Equality
4. Encourage Participation

While the world has moved on in many regards, for some in society not a great deal has changed. The welfare and development of children and families are uppermost in our thoughts. We believe that the family unit is our number one priority and that children within those families are supported, encouraged and developed fully.
Our priority is to provide assistance to those who face daily challenges within our key priority areas;

Poverty, Health, Equality and Participation.

We receive donations of new and almost new clothing and these are distributed to local children nurseries in neighbourhoods of deprivation and low income. Adult clothing donations are passed to Inverclyde Homeless Group.

Our main thrust is in the provision of holidays for Inverclyde families in poverty to the beautiful scenic location of Hunters Quay Holiday Park on the Cowal Peninsula where the children enjoy great facilities with recreational and outdoor activities where they feel stimulated, energised, laugh and get them interested in life.

Poverty can have a profound impact on the child, their family, and the rest of society. It often sets in motion a deepening spiral of social exclusion, creating problems in education, employment, mental and physical health and social interaction.’
