Martin was born and raised in Cleethorpes. His passion for his hometown and public service has given him 25 years of experience as a councillor, including six years as the Cabinet Member for Environmental Services. He also served the community as a churchwarden.
First elected as Member of Parliament for Cleethorpes in May 2010, Martin has served on the Transport Select Committee since 2013. He also chairs the All Party Parliamentary Rail Group, the APPG for Local Government, the APPG for Oil Refining and the APPG for Kosovo as well as playing a leading role in several other All-Party Groups.
