Josie’s Dragonfly Trust brightens the lives of children and young people living with cancer. Josie’s Dragonfly Trust work alongside Clic Sargent and the Macmillan teams in children’s cancer hospitals and young people’s cancer units. When one of their patients is given the devastating news that their treatment is no longer curative, they approach the trust with a cash gift application. Due to this association there is no red tape and a cheque of £500 is sent to the hospital in a couple of days to be given immediately to the young person or child’s family. This money allows them to do something to brighten their days during this precious and difficult time and is theirs to spend on whatever they want. In addition to the cash gifts, Josie’s Dragonfly Trust supply large boxes of arts and crafts supplies to all Children’s Cancer Specialist hospitals across the UK at least twice a year. These boxes are appreciated by both the children and staff on the wards as it is difficult to keep children and young people amused whilst spending so much time in hospitals often having difficult and painful treatment.
