They use touch, physical manipulation, stretching, active movement and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Osteopathic treatment does not only target symptoms but treats the parts of the body that have caused the symptoms. Osteopaths have a holistic approach and believe that your whole body will work well if your body is in good balance and fluids can freely circulate.

Osteopaths assess and treat people of any age from the elderly to children and from pregnant women to sports people. Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions, not just back problems.
