On Friday 24th April 1987 St Michael’s Hospice was officially opened by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent, marking the beginnings of an invaluable asset in Hastings and Rother.
Since opening our doors, we have welcomed thousands of patients both into the Hospice and looked after them in their homes.
St Michael's Hospice provides high quality, responsive palliative care and bereavement support across Hastings and Rother and works collaboratively with others to improve end of life care for all.
Over the past 30 years, our services have developed to offer high standards of palliative care and support, including Hospice at Home care, Bereavement Services and our award winning Hospice Neighbours scheme.
The cost of running the Hospice and providing the full range of services to our patients is over £6million a year. With around 35% of this being provided by the NHS we need to raise the balance, over £4.3 million, or over £12,000 per day, from voluntary sources.
This demonstrates the great reliance we have on our local community through fundraising events, our lottery, retail stores, legacies and donations.
