Blawarthill Parish Church of Scotland

General information

Blawarthill Parish Church was officially opened on 1 March 1941. The present sanctuary was opened in 1964 at which time the original church became the church hall. Services are held each Sunday at 11 am. There are 180 members and 30 office bearers. We have excellent facilities with an attractive sanctuary and extensive halls.

The Minister is the Reverend Melvyn Wood.

On Easter Sunday 2014 Blawarthill entered into a Parish Grouping with Yoker Parish Church.

Baptisms:
The Sacrament of Baptism is performed on application to the Minister. It is normal in the case of children's Baptism that at least one parent is a member of the church or a regular attender.

Weddings:
The Minister is qualified to officiate at Christian marriages either in church or at another location. He does not charge a fee for these services.

Sunday School:
Blawarthill Church has a Sunday School for children from age 3 upwards where young people are taught about the Christian faith in a relaxed and safe environment. Children should be brought to church by 11 a.m. on Sundays during school terms.

Weekday Activities:
There is a programme of activities including Boys' Brigade and Brownies for young people, as well as organisations for adults and social occasions for all age groups.

At Blawarthill we aim to be inclusive of all, irrespective of age, race, ability, gender and sexual orientation. We also respect the beliefs of those of different Christian traditions and different faiths.
