General information
Who are we?
We are people who receive services or payments from Wiltshire Council, Swindon Borough Council, or who use public, community or NHS Wiltshire health services, and have got together to form a Network group.
The Users Network was formed in 1991 and it is led by a Management Committe. Any member can be lected to the Management Committee at the Annual General Meeting every year.
All members are service users and it is important we offer support to them.
At the National Care Awards, 2000, the Department of Health gave us an award for being very good at supporting people.
What are our Aims?
- to give people the chance to speak up and be heard
- to help people work with us in a good way
- to work towards changing services to meet our needs
- to challenge poor ways of working
Our work is based on the Social Model of Disability which looks to break down the attitudes, environmental and organisational barriers that have been imposed by society.
