Norfolk County Council is the third-tier strategic authority in Norfolk with responsibility for managing over £3bn a year.

The Council runs a diverse range of services from adult social care to recycling centres; from education to fire safety; from boosting Norfolk’s economy to fixing potholes.

In the 4 years since the 2009 election, Norfolk Conservatives have been looking at ways to continue to provide the high quality services which earned its 4-star rating from the Audit Commission, while still meeting its saving targets against a stark economic backdrop.

Since 2009, Norfolk Conservatives have made £130m of savings at County Hall through efficiencies and service redesign, whilst also keeping Council Tax frozen for two years running. Norfolk County Council has taken the lead in delivering major infrastructure projects, such as super fast broadband to homes and businesses across Norfolk, provided more opportunities for apprentices, offered new types of support for the elderly and offered millions of pounds in grants to support community construction schemes.
