Our ethos is to buy honestly, fairly and ethically produced goods from our partner producers so that they can earn an honest living, not just in the busy times, but throughout the whole year, and they have decent, safe working conditions. Our producers are able to realise a very simple desire – to work for a fair wage, to be able to look after themselves and their families and to have a future with dignity.
Black Yak has a long term commitment to pay for several of our producers' children to be educated to tertiary level. Initially this includes shoes, uniform, books and writing materials.If they need more we provide more. Sickness and medical benefits are available as required from a combined producer/supplier fund. As our producers thrive they too contribute. Following the success of last year's village river rescue, this year Black Yak has enabled expansion by financing the acquisition of a plot of land for building new, clean and safe premises.
