General information

Camden Miniature Steam Services is a family firm, founded by Adam Harris in 1977, initially to buy and sell good quality engineering models, hence the name. After numerous adventures, including a spell linked to Clarksons of York, we started to import American engineering books, and books generally have very definitely become the tail wagging the dog. We still offer a limited range of Drawings and Castings, and a large range of DVDs on engineering subjects, railways, and much more.

We have also published a number of high quality books, both reprints and brand new, exclusively distribute books from a number of American publishers and DVDs from American and Australian producers and the famous Ton Pruissen series.

We have customers in nearly 70 countries around the world, a figure which would have been unbelievable when we started back in the 1970s, but which is a testament to our service to customers. both in the UK, and further afield.

Adam Harris now largely looks after the marketing and book production side, helped by wife Hilary and daughter Cait, whilst son Alex is in charge of the main office, customer contact and order dispatch, assisted by a small number of loyal and long serving 'girls'.
