The Clydesdale horse is the only native heavy horse of Scotland where it was bred in the 18th century to fulfil the needs of the farmers of the Clyde valley for an adaptable working horse with good active paces. The Clydesdale has been a great success and the breed has been exported all over the world as an agricultural horse.
