LocoSkates Company Information
General information
Shop of the year 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014 at the UK Rollin Awards (UKRA), Loco Skates is a specialist online skate shop in Sussex UK. Our high street store is in Eastbourne, near Brighton on the Sussex coast. Our website, LocoSkates.com is the premier UK website for those who want to buy aggressive inline skates online and one of largest stockists of recreational skates, freestyle skates and powerblade skates.
The LocoSkates idea arose in early 2004 from the rubble left by the collapse of the late HoldNoHostage skate shop in Gosport. Proudly flying the rollerblader-run flag, LocoSkates specialises in Inline skates and everything affiliated; filling the void that fashion stores, skateboard shops and non skater-run outfits couldn’t when attempting to sell such a specialist product.
The creative inspiration behind LocoSkates was conceived by long-time UK aggressive skater Jake Eley who continues to run the shop and website today. Jake is best known for his committed involvement in the UK rollerblading industry, for his high profile exposure with K2 skates in the early ‘00’s, British Champion 2002 and more recently for his involvement in media projects and events involving rollerblading. Jake is also 'UK Legacy' according to the UK Rolling Awards.
Loco has been a popular resource for the core rollerblading scene, regarded highly amongst dedicated skaters across the world for our grasp on what’s current in rollerblading and knowledge of the products sold whilst simultaneously being popular amongst those who are new to the sport for our extremely competitive prices, easy to use web-interface and straight-to-the-point advice. The LocoSkates Skate-team reflects the hardcore dedication of it’s primary customer base and includes some of the world’s best skaters. Nick Lomax (UK Skater of the Year 2009 and 2010 / World champion 2006), Richie Eisler (ONE International Skater of the year Winner), Joe Atkinson (UK Am of the year 2010 / AIL WORLD champion 2010), Jenna Downing (Female world champion 2008 / Winterclash 2010 champion), Sam Tuffnell (Slamm Jamm winner 2009 / AIL Pro), Leon Humphries (European Valo team rider / London legend) and Elliot Stevens (Valo, Dirt Box). All riding for Loco for the simple fact that this is the REAL THING, no gimmicks included! Check out our team pages for more on those guys and other Loco representatives.
Our staff are truly inspired. They all have skating backgrounds dating back for years and were headhunted on the basis that having 1 person who is REALLY good at their job is better than 5 people who are average at their job!
We are also involved heavily in event sponsorship, tours, contests, media, skater promotion, product manufacturing and generally setting the standard for being the most pro-active skate shop in the UK. See our staff pages for more on these guys.
LocoSkates continues to build for the future constantly developing our systems and the methods of doing business. Our current state of the art website went live in March 2012 tying in perfectly with the opening of our brand new shop premises just 5 doors up from where it all began! The new shop is cleaner, has room for more stock and provides an environment that makes our staff and customers happier to be there!
Thanks to everyone who supported from the beginning. We promise to keep putting back in. x
Loco.
