General information

We provide a hearty breakfast of a cold buffet and freshly prepared cooked breakfast. These include homemade yoghurt and smoked salmon with scrambled egg as well as the usual suspects of bacon sausage etc. We get our sausages and black pudding from our local award winning butchers, Findlays. You will find enough for a any taste to set you up for a day exploring Portobello’s beach on our doorstep, independent shops, cafes and the historic heritage trail. Why not adventure further as a 20 minute bus journey will bring you to the heart of Edinburgh in Princes Street where you can visit a wealth of Scottish heritage. There’s the Castle and the Parliament building; take a walk round Arthurs seat or see the National Galleries; Visit the botanical gardens or see the National museum of Scotland. Really the choices are endless. But don't forget the wider area full of natural beauty on the waters of Leith, Tantallon Castle or Rosslyn chapel. Know that you can have a peaceful night’s sleep at Straven Guest house and start again in the morning after a delicious breakfast.
