In Edinburgh, there are many over-60s who feel lonely or isolated. One study found that older people in Edinburgh are the loneliest in the UK. Research shows that chronic loneliness increases the chances of developing dementia by 64 percent and can be as damaging to health as smoking 15 cigarettes a day.
Vintage Vibes is tackling those statistics head on by offering a new service that's reaching out to people across the city. Using friendly volunteers we're reaching out to over-60s - our Vibes VIPs - offering companionship, reliable support and the opportunity to be more socially connected.
We offer a range of services, including 1:1 visiting both in and out of the home, pet visiting, hospital visiting, friendship pools and family visiting.
