We live and work locally and are here to provide the best skills and service to people in the region that we can.

Our training centre is based right in the heart of the Highlands here in Inverness but you don’t need to be based here to study with us. We offer distance learning meaning that if you’re in a remote area of the Highlands, we can still help you gain professional and high quality, recognisable qualifications.

You will see Alicia and Andrew regularly who are highly trained and great at helping you make the right decisions about your career.
Alicia is your first point of contact and runs the centre here in the Highlands. If you have any special requirements please let her know as she will be happy to help.

Andrew is our Student Services manager and he is there to hold your hand through the process, from setting up your account on our Online Campus to giving you help and advice during your training.

We are also both on hand to help with career advice, CV writing, interview skills and other industry related insights. Just ask in centre if you have any questions.

All our courses are fully recognised and are available to begin any day in personalised learning: no need to wait for classes to begin.
We have a lot of experience supporting people who are returning to work after having time off with young children, taking their first career steps, with those looking to completely retrain mid-career (including many from the Armed Forces) and those looking to refresh their skills to keep on top of a changing job.

Established in 1870, by Sir Isaac Pitman, Pitman Training began with one shorthand school. Today Pitman Training is unique in being not only the oldest and longest running independent training company, but also for having the largest independent UK network of training centres. We are also represented internationally in many overseas countries.

In Scotland, Pitman Training has been around since 1987 when the Edinburgh centre was opened by Fran and Tom Maclean. Starting with shorthand and moving onto typewriters, before the invention of the PC as we know it, our training business has continued to develop.

We quickly established a fantastic reputation for quality courses and qualifications with employers all over Scotland and our range of courses continues to grow. Today in Scotland we have centres in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dumfries and the Highlands along with a fantastic distance learning program that allows even the most remote areas of Scotland access to our courses.

Our unique training system allows you to train at times and a pace that suits you, so no more feeling left behind in the class or feeling like you are being held up. Training can be taken in one of our centres or from home using our distance learning software during which you will receive the support of our fully qualified Training Supervisors who have years of experience in training and supporting individuals through their courses.
