Smuggler's Records

General information

Several years ago a handful of musicians picked the same year to move from the city to the seaside and as one might expect in a small town, it didn't take long for them to find each other. They met, they drank, they sang and they played; and so Smugglers Records grew, like many wonderful things, out of a series of chance encounters. Its core members drawn together – in Deal of all places, by a love of music and good nights out.

From the humble beginnings of small club nights to busking-led adventures across Europe; the ethos of Smugglers Records existed before the label did. Built on a love of music and community, adventure and memories; for those involved with it Smugglers Records is more than just a label, it's a way of life.

In 2009 the band Cocos Lovers self-funded and pressed their first album 'Johannes'. They put a logo on it that says 'Smuggler Records' and thus the label was born. 11 releases later, Smugglers Records is now responsible for putting on regular music nights in Deal, Kent and London, hosting a brand new 3 day Music Festival in woodland near Deal and, of course, releasing plenty of quality music from its amazingly diverse roster of artists.

Smugglers Records is run by musicians for musicians. The music industry is in its final hours, but music itself will never die, in fact it’s only just getting started.
